AMD RAIDXpert Issue

AMD RAIDXpert: Doesn't list any available RAID controllers or hard drives making it impossible to rebuild an array

This problem is reported quite a bit on the internet. It many cases the solution was to format and reinstall the OS. Although that is a fine fix, I woulkd prefer to leave a system intact and avoide the arduous task of reinstalling software and restoring backups. The solution below worked for me on an XP Pro SP3 machine:

  • Download the latest version of RAIDXpert
  • Run the installer, but chose the option to "Remove"
  • Go to c:\Program Files\AMD\ and delete the RAIDXpert folder
  • Open up Regedit and search for "RAIDXpert"
  • Delete every associated entry you can, some are locked
  • Reboot the computer and then reinstall RAIDXpert
  • Reboot one more time and you should now find it works
